Establishment and Governance of New University

Preamble

This statute establishes the governance framework, operational policies, and regulatory guidelines for New University, ensuring a commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.

Article I: Definitions

  1. University: Refers to New University, an institution of higher education.

  2. Board: The Board of Trustees responsible for governing the university.

  3. Faculty: Members engaged in teaching, research, and service activities within the university.

Article II: Purpose and Objectives

  1. The primary purpose of this statute is to:

    • Promote high-quality education and research.

    • Foster an inclusive and diverse academic environment.

    • Enhance community engagement and service.
       

  2. Specific objectives include:

    • Establishing academic programs that meet national standards.

    • Encouraging student participation in governance.

    • Developing partnerships with local businesses and organizations.

Article III: Governance Structure

  1. Board of Trustees:

    • Composed of 10 members appointed for 4 years.

    • Responsible for strategic oversight and policy adoption.
       

  2. University Administration:

    • Led by a President responsible for daily operations and implementation of board policies.

    • Includes Vice Presidents overseeing various departments (Academic Affairs, Finance, Student Affairs, etc.).
       

  3. Academic Senate:

    • Comprised of faculty representatives.

    • Provides input on academic policies and decisions.

Article IV: Academic Policies

  1. Curriculum Approval:

    • All academic programs must be reviewed and approved by the Academic Senate.
       

  2. Student Admissions:

    • The Admissions Committee shall establish criteria for student enrollment, ensuring fair access.
       

  3. Assessment:

    • Regular program evaluations to ensure quality and relevance.

Article V: Student Rights and Responsibilities

  1. Rights:

    • Access to educational resources.

    • Freedom of expression and assembly on campus.
       

  2. Responsibilities:

    • Adherence to the university’s code of conduct.

    • Participation in university activities and governance.

  2. Amendments may be proposed by the Board, faculty, or students and must be approved by a majority vote within the Board.

Article VII: Review and Amendments

  1. This statute shall take effect on 1 January 2099.

  2. Transitional provisions for implementation shall be stipulated to ensure a smooth rollout.
